Nijinska

 Moon Kabala x Nephrite

1978-2005

Nijinska was a grey purebred Arabian mare bred by Kathrine Wilkinson in August 1978. Her sire was the grey Silver Moonlight* son, Moon Kabala. Moon Kabala's dam was the Kataf* mare, Kassa (out of Nasirieh* by Skowronek).

Moon Kabala was one of Silver Moonlight's best known sons, and can be found in the pedigree of many Australian Arabians today. Notable offspring include the mare Aliya, dam of the super mare Abelya (x Abyad).

Moon Kabala also provides us with a link to the sole Skowronek offspring to come to Australia, the mare Nasirieh*. Through Moon Kabala, Nijinska has a very close up line to Skowronek.

Nijinska's dam was the bay pure Crabbet mare Nephrite. Nephrite was by Fenwick Stud's Riffal* son, Silver Spot (x Royal Radiance*), and out of the beautiful grey Silver Moonlight* daughter Nickel (x Nisib).

Nijinska was a small mare, standing 14.1H, but her offspring have often been quite tall with at least two being over 15H. What she lacked in height she made up for in sound conformation and a serene and self-confident disposition which endeared her to visitors. She was one of those "old fashioned" Crabbet mares on which many studs depend on.

Nijinska came to us from Fenwick Stud in 1999. She came to us as our foundation mare- not our first purebred mare but the most important in terms of setting the standard & type which we aimed to breed.

Her influence in our stud continues through two sons, Ivahri Silver Storm (x Heritage Silver Rain) and Ivahri Golden Thorpe. A grand-daughter, Naajinska IVA by Naazim out of Meadow View Silver Nickel, has been retained by us. They, along with our Heritage Silver Rain descendents form the Silver family corner of our Silver- Nazeer- Royal Domino* breeding plan. These things take time & only now are we breeding our first 3 way cross of these families.

Nijinska passed away on the 1st of April 2005 due to heart failure.

Naajinska IVA

(Naazim x Meadow View Silver Nickel)

Naajinska IVA is by Naazim out of Meadowview Silver Nickel (dec). A tall bay mare, Naajinska is one of the mares our stud retains for the future.  She is the grand daughter of Nijinska.

The pure Crabbet mare Nickel is an important influence in our Stud (and many others). Nickel was bred by Mrs A.D.D. Maclean of Fenwick Stud; her sire was the imported Crabbet bred Silver Moonlight* (Indian Magic x Silver Fire) and her dam the mare Nisib.

Nickel appears in our pedigrees via her son Nickelsilver (by Shafreyn*) and her grand-daughter Nijinska (by Moon Kabala).

This is a very early (early 1970s) magazine photo of Moon Kabala (Silver Moonlight* x Kassa). Moon Kabala was a significant son of Silver Moonlight* and to this day can be found in many Arabian pedigrees in Australia.
