Salah El Asaad

(Arabesque El Saad x Arabesque Desert Gold)

Salah El Asaad is the product of skilled breeding using the very best of imported Egyptian blood and quality Crabbet lines. His sire Arabesque El Saad, was by the imported Egyptian stallion Hansan* (by El Hilal), and out of one of the most beautiful predominantly Egyptian mares to come to Australia, El Sherif Kasmina* (by the Ansata Ibn Halima son Ansata El Sherif).

His dam was one of the most successful mares of the 1970s and 1980s in NSW show rings... Her name was Arabesque Desert Gold and she gained prominence in both the performance & halter rings. Her sire, Desert Pride, was one of the most popular sons of Count Manilla* (by Count Dorsaz). Her dam was one of the best known Silver Moonlight* daughters, Ignez.

From a young age, Salah El Asaad proved himself in the show ring and at stud by winning major show awards in Victoria (culminating in Champion Arabian Stallion at the Royal Melbourne Show) while his progeny were also accumulating their own successes. His progeny have won at least one Australian Championship ( the beautiful Arabian Pony mare Salah Sugar N' Spice), a number of Australian Top 10 awards (including the purebred gelding Charadia Kermit, out of a mare acknowledged to be one of the world's greatest living pure Crabbet Arabians, Bundarra Park Monria), and Supreme & Champion Awards at many Arabian and Agricultural shows.

Salah El Asaad's daughter Ivahri Gold and Silver (x Lac-La-Biche Lady Rose) is now competing in endurance, and has been VERY successfully completing her probationary 80km rides (more details on the Salah El Asaad Progeny page).

For more information on Saad's progeny, please take a look at his Progeny page.

Salah El Asaad plays an important role in our stud as our outcross stallion, and is producing the quality daughters needed for us to maintain our breeding program in the long term. He has produced almost all daughters for us to date and without exception his offspring have been worthy of retention by us.

Few studs are fortunate to have a stallion of this quality, and to have this stallion as our outcross is truly a gift from Heaven. Salah El Asaad stands at stud under Private Treaty and your enquiry about his availability for your mare would be welcomed.

Salah El Asaad has NOT been SCID tested and has never to our knowledge sired a SCID affected foal.

Did you know....

In 2001 Salah El Asaad's paternal brother Salah El Saadraan was the winner of one of the world's most prestigious endurance rides, The Presidents Cup.

While Saad receives a lot of interest because of his illustrious Crabbet mum, Arabesque Desert Gold, people underestimate the quality of his predominantly Egyptian sire Arabesque El Saad. Even staunch Crabbet lovers like ourselves take our hats off to the proven success in endurance by descendents of Saad's paternal grand-dam, El Sherif Kasmina*. This was no ordinary Egyptian mare... this was an Arabian super mare! Mated to a magnificient Egyptian stallion, Hansan*, you have the recipe for success and what should be our aim- the versatile Arabian.

I have been told that Salah El Saadraan still lives in Middle Eastern luxury in recognition of his success. Long may he live!

Reference Mare: Arabesque Desert Gold

The beautiful Arabesque Desert Gold was considered by many to be the best of all of the Desert Pride daughters. She certainly was a very successful show mare for Arabesque both in halter & under saddle. She lived her entire long life at Arabesque (or under an arrangement with Dorothy Hodge).

Reference Sire: Desert Pride

The sire of Arabesque Desert Gold, the handsome and talented Desert Pride, was one of the high profile sons of Count Manilla*. Initially owned by G. Brassington, he was then co-owned by Brassington & Lesley Dowey of Arabesque Stud, before he was acquired by Lesley Dowey outright. During the period he was co-owned he spent a year in NSW & then a year in Queensland rotating between the studs.

Reference Sire: El Hilal.

A magnificent son of Ansata Ibn Halima, his son Hansan* has been influential in Australian breeding.

El Hilal's influence can be seen in his Australian descendents and their balance of sound conformation and beauty is well respected.
